Zenith Bank PLC, sponsor of the annual Headmasters Cup football competition has expressed delight over the standard exhibited by the young lads at the 2023 edition of the tournament.

The event, which is the second edition, had primary schools in all the 25 Local Governments of the state competing for honours.

On the final day Friday May 19, a six-goal thriller recorded on regulation time, drew curtains on the competition with Owa Model Primary School, Owa, emerging champions 4-1 in the eventual shootout after full score against Ogedegbe Primary School stood at 3-3.

The match decided at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, kept spectators at the edge of their seats with the young lads battling to outplay one another to emerge victorious.

Owa Model Primary School, apart from the trophy and other prizes also won a bus donated by the government of Delta State.

The Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, said it was a delight to see young lads exhibiting their talents at tender age.

Onyeagwu said: “We had our team on the ground from Day One till the end of the competition and we got amazing feedbacks from them about the high standard exhibited by the boys.

“It is expected that every year, this tournament will get bigger and better, as an organization, we are so proud to be using this tournament to contribute to the growth of football in Nigeria.”
