An online radio station is a live broadcast or recorded show that is streamed via the web. Online radio is one of the best platforms to listen to curated music if you want to keep up with the latest music trends. However, many mainstream radio stations can be very repetitive. This is one of the main reasons for the rise of internet radio stations – so that you can listen to the radio online!

The best thing about Internet radio stations is that they are not restricted to geographic locations. This is unlike radio stations listened to on DAB and analogue radios.

It’s not the least of marvels then that AKTINA FM, an Internet radio station that broadcasts from a home in New York has now grown as it streams from 13 owned and operated websites reaching worldwide audiences.

AKTINA FM, the first and only true bilingual Greek American Radio, delivers a wide variety of public service programs of culture, enlightenment and entertainment. It was founded and established on the FM dial and online by Elena Maroulleti, an independent journalist who is also the Producer and Host.

AKTINA FM is considered to be the second online Radio Station to emerge in 1993. The first internet radio station is widely considered to be “Radio HK,” which started broadcasting in 1993.

In 2000, AKTINA NET was renamed, AKTINA FM Greek American Internet Radio. In late 2016 AKTINA FM became a full-fledged Internet Radio Station streaming daily 24/7 and has a reach of about 3.8million.

In 2018, AKTINA FM became the first and only Greek American Radio to have a Street in New York City named after it known as, “AKTINA FM WAY.”
