Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, who received the award as Governor of the Year, was elated that the effort his administration had put in had received recognition. He said: “On behalf of the government and the people of Enugu State, I express my profound gratitude to The Sun for finding us worthy for this award. It is significant to us that our modest effort at enhancing security and providing water for our people within 180 days of assuming office and also embarking on massive development has received recognition. These achievements would not have been possible without the effort of my team. We are inspired by this award and it would spur us to do more.
