Abia state Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has strongly condemned the killing of a Chieftain of the Labour Party, Mr. Maduka Zachary, at Uturu, in Isuikwuato LGA of the State by yet to be identified assailants.
This is equally as a pro democracy group, Coalition of South East Youths for Democracy (CSEY) has condemned the dastardly act.
In a release signed by his special adviser on media and publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Otti described the gruesome murder of Zachary who was beheaded by his killers as insane, barbaric and vicious.
The Governor expressed sadness that the Late Zachary who distinguished himself during the last general election as the Labour Party Campaign Manager in Uturu and who was said to have played active roles as a community leader in fighting kidnapping, had his life cut short when he was supposed to reap the fruits of good governance being initiated by the Labour Party government.
Otti promised that government would stand by his family and give them all the necessary support required as they deal with the sad loss.
While restating the resolve of his administration to ensuring absolute protection of life and property in the state, the governor called on security agents to swing into action and ensure the killers were arrested and brought to book.
Meanwhile, a pro democracy group in the South East, Coalition of South East Youths for Democracy (CSEY) has condemned the killing if Zachary.
In a statement by its chairman, Fabulous Wisdom, the group said Maduka’s gruesome murder was no doubt directly linked to the ongoing tussle for the Isuikwuaro/Umunneochi federal constituency seat in Abia State.
“We need no rocket science to convince ourselves that this devlish erasure of Mr Maduka, is directly linked to the ongoing tussle for the Isuikwuaro/Umunneochi federal constituency seat in Abia State”.
CSEY demand that justice be done speedily in the matter as to deter others who may be planning such a heinous crime in future.
