The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has advised center referee Abdulmalik Abdulmalik to step down from officiating Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matches with immediate effect.

Referee Abdulmalik, according to a statement from the NFF Refereeing Development Unit, was found culpable in last Sunday’s match between Katsina United and Abia Warriors with questionable calls.

“In view of your decisions that adversely affects not only the outcome of the match between Katsina United and Abia Warriors played on Sunday, 24th Match, 2024 in Katsina, but your actions equally brings the game to disrepute. I am directed to notify you that you have been stepped down with immediate effect from the league until further notice,” the statement signed by Mohammed Ameenu, on behalf of the chairman NFF Referees’ Committee, reads.
