Jigawa state Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has sent a letter to the state House of Assembly seeking approval for a supplementary budget worth N29.324 billion.

The letter, which was read and communicated on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Alhaji Isah Idris Gwaram, requested the lawmakers to approve the release of the funds for the execution of projects across the state.

According to the Governor’s letter, the proposed budget is meant to finance more road projects, rural electrification, economic empowerment, water supply in urban areas and small towns, as well as solar street lights in urban centres.

He explained that the amount would also be used to finance constituency projects such as water supply in rural areas and the construction of mosques and islamiyya schools across the state.

Abubakar stated that the mid-year budget implementation report indicated that satisfactory progress was recorded towards attaining the administration’s objectives.

Speaker of the House Isa Idris Gwaram promised a speedy consideration of the request to allow the executive arm execute the state projects.
