FIVE suspected cultists were killed, and 20 injured during initiation at Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Seven of the suspected cultists have been arrested in connection with the incident which took place around Community Secondary School, Obosi.

One of the corpses of the slain cultists was abandoned at the gate of the school.

Daily Sun gathered that the corpse was dumped close to the school gate by unidentified persons who came there in a black Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

The Principal of the school, Mrs Ada Elobi, said when she received information about the development, she contacted the area Chief Security man, Mr Arthur Ilongwo, who informed the Obosi Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Mr Ibrahim Musa.

The DPO confirmed the incident and said the corpse had been deposited at the mortuary.

Our source disclosed that, those arrested over the incident confessed during interrogation that they deposited the corpse at the school gate.

It was further gathered that the new members, some of who came from Okoh and other communities for the initiation were beaten to stupor, resulting in the death of another three after initiation due to pains .

Reacting, the Traditional ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, said, “when it downed on me that hard drugs such as cocaine, heroine and others can be got in Obosi, I knew that cultists have taken over our community because they act on the influence of hard drugs.

“I appeal to the security operatives to swing into action since the place is no more safe for us as a result of these cultists.”
