The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that personal details of candidates and running mates of political parties that fielded candidates for the September Edo State governorship election would be published ton Saturday.

INEC, in a statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, noted that the publication is in compliance with the provisions in Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The commission also announced that the  personal particulars, consisting copies of Form EC9 along with all academic credentials and other documents submitted by each candidate will be published at the state headquaters and the 18 Local Government offices across Edo state.

The electoral umpire urged Nigerians to scrutinise the submitted documents, stressing that any aspirant who participated in the party primaries with reasonable grounds that the information provided by the candidate is false can challenge the nomination in a Federal High Court as provided in Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act 2022.

“We appeal to Nigerians to scrutinise the documents. The election will be held on Saturday September 21.
