From Oluseye Ojo, Ibadan

Senator Sharafadeen Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), has promised constituents quality representation and unprecedented empowerment programmes.

During his second inauguration party held at the Methodist Grammar School field in Igboora in Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State, he assured constituents that his kind of empowerment would focus on individuals’ identified skills and vocations.

The senator stated that his empowerment would differ from the common distribution of motorcycles, refrigerators, and others, which lack complementary support for sustenance.

Alli believes that empowerment should be more focused on supporting their basic skills and vocations after giving them the tools, coupled with cash support to sustain their businesses.

Instead of providing just a deep freezer, for instance, he promised to support the individual with goods to sell and cash to sustain the business, adding that he is focused on touching all villages and towns in the district to ensure farmers benefit from tools and cash support to maintain food sufficiency.

He also pledged to pursue employment for employable youths, undergraduate students’ support, revolving loans, and support for traders and farmers.

Alli also promised to do all within his capability to ensure that the Igboora General Hospital is upgraded to a Federal Medical Centre saying the development would help improve healthcare delivery in the district, and the surrounding zones.

The, however, lawmaker charged youths to engage in vocations and shun social vices as this would help empower them for the sustenance of their livelihood.

Chief Timothy Jolaoso, the APC leader in Ibarapa zone, commended Senator Alli for his exceptional style, which would, no doubt, achieve unprecedented feats in the end. He also stated that they had never had any senator return for a second term in Oyo South. However, Chief Jolaoso is confident that with the senator’s exceptional start, he may end up being the first to return for a second term.

The event was attended by Alhaji Olayide Abas, the State APC Deputy Chairman; Alhaji Mojeed Olaoya, the Oyo South Senatorial Chairman; as well as party leaders, and members from the three local governments in the zone – Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa North and Ibarapa East. Both wives of the lawmaker, Khadijat and Tawakalitu, were present, alongside other aides of the senator.
