The Gombe State task force on the closure of ‘Gala Night Clubs’ in collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested over 100 suspects and demolished five buildings housing the gala night clubs around Tumfure and BCGA areas of Gombe Metropolis.

According to the chairman of the task force Mr Bitrus Bilal, the demolishing of the structure was in enforcement of the state government’s ban on the clubs in the state. He explained that the owners of the buildings that were demolished did not secure approvals from the Gombe State Urban, Planning and Development Authority (GOSUPDA) for the structure.

He said, “We found that none of the houses has an operational license from appropriate authorities, and the worst part of everything was that their activities are against the norms of our society.”
