The Director of National Youth Service Corps(NYSC), Northwest Area office,Mr. Kehinde Aremu has charged Corps Members serving in Kebbi State to plan ahead of their exit from the scheme and get busy with skills acquisition.

Aremu stated this during his visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Dakingari Suru Local Government Kebbi State.

While addressing the 2024 Batch”A” Stream II Corps Members deployed to serve in Zamfara and Kebbi States, he acknowledged the sacrifices of the NYSC officials, the Army, man O war and other Camp Officials to ensure that every NYSC Camping experience is successful.

According to him, ” leaving your families, the pleasures and comfort of your bedrooms for three weeks, six times a year, is commendable.
To you Corps members,make plants, get your hands busy, key into Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme before you completed your service”.

The Director highlighted the importance of Skills Acquisition, which enables Corps Members to be self-reliant by acquiring skills.

” Our stakeholders are ready to empower you in starting your businesses. After getting the necessary training, present a bankable proposal to access loans from the Scheme’s funding options like the Bank of Industry and CBN,” he advised.

He congratulated the Corps Members for making it to the orientation Course despite the stress they went through in their various higher institutions of learning, especially the Nigerian graduates.

Aremu who shared his life experiences he too gone through at the NYSC camp, as a Corps member ,said,he was lucky to meet his wife at the NYSC camp.

“ See yourselves as leaders with excellent qualities, and see yourselves as your brothers and sisters. Be faithful and honest in your service. Be patriotic, have a healthy attitude to work and more importantly, make an impact wherever you find yourselves “.

The Director, advised the Corps Members, not to place their future in the hands of other people but instead, empower themselves and utilize every opportunity NYSC offers.

He counseled the Corps Members not to embark on dangerous adventures or unauthorized journeys.

Aremu commended Corps members for their cooperation and presented cash gifts to the NYSC music band, quarter guard and the man 0 ‘war squad.

Earlier, in her welcome address, the State Coordinator of NYSC in Kebbi State, Mrs. Okolo Agatha Banki who welcomed Aremu to the camp informed him that The Executive Governor of Kebbi State,Dr. Nasir Idris have visited the camp and generous donated N3 million and two big bulls to the Corps Members to augment their feeding.

She equally appreciated the Kebbi State Government for their support to the NYSC in the State as well commended the Corps Members for their good behaviours since their arrival at the Camp.

She informed the Director about some challenges they are facing in the camp which include, the lack of power supply to the Dakingari Community which by extension has stopped the electricity supply to the Camp stressed that,the Camp power supply are being run solely on diesel.
