From Layi Olanrewaju, Ilorin

A Kwara State All Progressive Congress,(APC) Chieftain and Social Critic, Comrade Abdul-Rahoof Bello-Làbẹ́làbẹ́ has commended the Fulani Organisation, “Fulbe United for Peace” for extending the Olive branch to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in finding “peace, reconciliation, forgiveness, across interest groups” in Nigeria.

Reacting to the communique released by the group after a press conference at Abuja on Sunday, the Social Critic advised Mr. President to see this offer as one promoted by patriotic instincts and a Divine opportunity to getting a lasting solution to our security challenges in this country through African alternative methods as enumerated by the Fulani group.

Comrade Bello-Làbẹ́làbẹ́ reflected and expressed sadness over insecurity, which has claimed many lives and properties of innocent people. Regrettably, he stated, the dimensions have been escalating in geometric progression since the first half of our current democratic dispensation without any feasible solution in sight.

According to him, the economic, human and material resources consumed by insecurity was almost dwarfing the national defence budget during the civil war of 1967-1970.

Stressing further that, the idea of exploring the African Traditional Security methods as suggested by the Fulani Organisation, could therefore not have come at a better time.

He concluded by urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to invite the Fulbe United for Peace; Oodua Peoples Congress; Agbẹ̀kọ̀ya group; Amọ̀tẹ́kun; Witchcraft practitioners; the Constabulary Police, and such other relevant interest groups, to submit blue prints on how to be integrated into the nation’s security architecture for more effective onslaught against crimes and criminality in Nigeria in collaboration with the conventional security apparatus.
