The former Nigerian Army Chief of Training and Operations, Lt. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, has won the award of the World Institute of Peace and would be declared as ‘The Bearer of Security Torch,’ by the institute.

Others who won the world peace award are House of Representatives member, Hon Abiola Makinde, a traditional ruler in Osun State, Oba Adekunle Makama of Owu Kuta, and former Field Commander of Osun Security Network Asagency (Amotekun), Comrade Amitolu Shitu.

The Executive Director of the Institute, Chief Lamina Omotoyosi, disclosed this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo, on Sunday.

He stated that the awardees would be conferred at the upcoming International Peace Conference and Award, Nigeria 2023, at the Nigerian Army Resource Center, Abuja, on 6th December.

According to him, the event would address banditry and other social vices affecting the country, saying discussions, recommendations, and solutions provided during the conference will undoubtedly contribute to building a more peaceful and secure Nigeria.

“It is an opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate, exchange ideas, and propose innovative strategies to combat banditry and other social vices,” Omotoyosi said.
