THE Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun Command has seized no fewer than 5,000 cartons of frozen poultry products with Duty Paid Value of N22 million.

Aside the poultry items, vehicles of assorted models and bags of rice were also intercepted and seized by the command.

The Customs Area Controller, Sani Madugu, who made the disclosure at Idi Iroko last Friday, said the command would not relent in its anti-smuggling war.

“This is a product of intelligence gathering by our dynamic officers and men, who acted on a tip off, followed up and made the outstanding seizure of these frozen products,” he said.

Madugu, who said no arrests were made, added that the seized products were loaded in 10 different vehicles, adding that the drivers of the vehicles abandoned them and ran away after sighting the command’s officials.

“We will continue to match their smuggling exploits, through bush paths and conventional routes. We will fight smuggling head-on now. We are fighting smuggling and succeeding in the war; that’s the result of the seizures,” he said.
