The World Igbo Congress (WIC) is set to hold its annual summit which is the first of its kind that would be convened in Nigeria in over 20 years.

In a statement signed by WIC chairman, Joe Nze Eto, the organisation stated that the purpose of the summit was to, among other issues, present some of its projects which would enhance the development of the South East.

The statement read: “The purpose of the summit is to provide a forum for Igbo in Diaspora and in Nigeria to rub minds and resolve possible pathways to reformat post-civil war Igbo.

“We also expect to impact the youths in several ways by this summit and particularly in building self esteem, steps to restoring Igbo dignity, self heritage preservation, surviving and even excelling under hostile government policies designed to make them fail.

“In addition to dialogue and strategising on how to preserve the Igbo identity in today’s Nigeria, WIC plans to present some of her projects that will enhance the development of the South East….”
