This year’s edition of Uyo Fashion Forward, which is also the third edition, could be described as interesting and exciting as designers displayed an array of styles with African prints and English fabrics.The show featured a fashion masterclass, runway show and fashion fair.
Designers such as I’frixana, , Ibom Glitterati, J Hart, Raimz Brown, and Fresh By Catherine were present. Others were, Luda Nita, Ekaite, Amasian, Inyangobong Collection, Verge Fashion House, Rinz Couture, Lavender By Ini, Kheem Prestige and Posh Gold.
Ceejay International showed a range of bespoke eyewear.
Produced by Ubong Ekanem of Kardynal Kommunikationz, the event which took place at Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital had the theme; The Next Fashion Hub.
Beyond the runway, Mr. Ekanem says the seasonal event provides a physical platform that will gradually reposition fashion as a useful tool for culture, commerce and creativity in Akwa Ibom State.
He also stated that, the exhibitions are targeted at providing young and established designers with the opportunity to showcase their ranges and in doing so, provide them with access to markets- buyers and retailers, thereby growing their clientele.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of sewing machines to 5 up-and-coming designers by Rt. Hon. Victor Antai, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Akwa Ibom State.
