Comrade Nwankwo-led students union government counts its achievements, names them, one by one

The Students Union Government, (SUG), of the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus (UNEC), led by its President, Comrade Emmanuel Ebuka Nwankwo, has, in an x-ray of its achievements since inspection (April 21, 2016), given itself a pass mark.

According to a press statement by the Personal Assistant to the President, Comrade Asogwa Chidi Samuel, the SUG under Nwankwo, has achieved a lot in less than a year he assumed power.

It noted that it has, among other amenities and services, provided street lights on the campus, especially in the hostel areas, as well as WiFi to enable students access internet in the comfort of their hostel rooms.

“This has helped to reduce the risk of going out at night in search of wireless internet connection at ICT centre while provision of street lights has helped to curb the crime rate,” the statement noted.

It further pointed out that apart from installation of street lights and internet services the union has, through the University authorities, provided a 3000 KV generator to ensure steady power supply in the absence of power from the national grid.

“The generator services have also been extended to the Faculty of Environmental Sciences to enable its students carry out their studio and construction assignments without hitches,” it added.

Other things it listed as his administration’s achievements include increased water supply on the campus, renovation of the basketball pitch and the volleyball court. “We also brought Guarantee Trust Bank to open free account for every interested UNEC student as well as gave out items like phones, refrigerators, laptops among others to some students.”

These achievements, it noted, were made possible without budget. “From the inception of the administration, the union has been operating on zero budget. Notwithstanding, it has thus far recorded giant achievements.”
