Sacred Heart College (SAHARCO), Aba, Abia State will, on Saturday, November 18, hold her diamond jubilee anniversary.

The school located on Eziukwu, the outskirts of Aba metropolis, was founded in April 1957.

SAHARCO is said to be the first cosmopolitan college founded by the Catholic Church in Abia State.

In a release by the anniversary planning committee, the celebration starts on Thursday, November 16 with the arrival of Old Boys from different parts of the world while the election of new executive of the Old Boys Association will take place on Friday, November 17.

According to the release, the 60th anniversary celebration proper will begin by 10am on November 18 at the school compound with a Eucharistic Mass to be celebrated by Most Rev. (Dr.) Gregory Ochiagha, Bishop Emeritus of Orlu Diocese and the first Nigerian Principal of the school.

The Planning Committee poured encomium on the first Principal of the school, Rev. Father Raymond Kennedy whom it said used his car to drive some of the first set of students from Owerri to Aba on daily basis in order to ensure the success of the then young secondary school.

The diamond jubilee anniversary celebration to be attended by notable Old Boys and other personalities including seven traditional rulers will be used to honour notable Nigerians who have excelled in their chosen endeavours.
