As part of activities to celebrate Nigeria’s 57th independence anniversary, lawyer cum politician, Owolabi Salis, has through his ‘One Nigeria Rally & Concert’ urged for peace and unity in the country.

The rally/concert, which was held at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos on October 1, paraded top artistes including Lord of Ajasa, Clever J, AY.Com, Collabo, Dammy Blaze, Bobby Tee, Ojima, Wolex Kelly, and Odot among others. The musicians all used their songs to preach peace, unity, progress, oneness and development.

On what inspired the concert, Salis said he organised the event as a way of preaching national unity and cohesion at a time a section of the country was agitating for secession.

“There has been agitation by some people who think that the political system has marginalised them. So, it is imperative to create awareness that agitations for secession will further put the nation in a state of limbo,” he said.

While advocating for unity and togetherness as panacea for peace, progress and national development, Salis said as the 7th most populous country in the world, Nigeria must come together in the interest of other blacks in the Diaspora.

“I am speaking from experience, having travelled to several countries across the world and lived in the United States of America for over 20 years, we have no option than to stay together. With the agitation for secession, I think there is a need to restructure to move this country forward,” he stressed.
