The Ondo State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has trained 74 of its officers on how to handle weapons.

This, the state commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Pedro Awili, said would enhance efficient performance by the corps and promote security in the state.

Awili, who spoke at the passing out parade of the officers held at the 32 Artillery Cantonment, Akure, said the corps was determined to ensure security of lives and properties in all parts of the country.

Said he, “74 of our officers who have been involved in four months vigorous training on weapon handling have been equiped on how to tackle insecurity in the state.

The NSCDC boss stated further that, “With this, we intend to properly position our personnel for the task ahead. This development will enhance the effectiveness of our personnel towards solving the problem of insecurity.”

“Aside the general elections that is at the corner, we want to position our men to tackle issues relating to insurgency, terrorism, kidnapping and cultism across the state,” he added.

Awili stressed that “The development will also help us to checkmate activities of those who are into illicit activities in the oil industry.”

The NSCDC commandant lauded the Nigeria Army for their collaboration synergy with the corps.

Awili admonished the officers to ensure that they do not molest members of the public with their arms, just as he advised them to handle weapons with care.
