Worried by the rising cases of kidnapping and armed robberies, Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has  assured residents  that the government has placed the security agencies on red alert.
Militants as well as suspected cult members in recent times have laid siege to Ikorodu, forcing many reidents and landlords to relocate.
Also, suspected gunmen  stormed Iba Community in Iba Local Council Development Area of the state on Saturday evening and abducted the traditional ruler, Oba Goriola Oseni.
Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tunji Bello, who spoke on behalf of Governor Ambode  said government is alive to its core responsibilities of protecting the citizens.
According to him, his administration  would not shirk from its responsibility of protecting the lives and property of its citizens in every part of the state.
He disclosed that security intelligence had revealed useful leads towards identifying notorious syndicates behind the heinous crimes and their accomplices.
“We would like to inform Lagosians that we are saddened by the recent cases of kidnappings that appear unabating. But we wish to assure that the government will not fold its arms and allow a few evildoers to prosper at the expense of innocent citizens.
“We are working together with both the  Federal Government and Ogun State Government in particular in the volatile areas that have been identified. We will spare no effort in bringing every criminal gang to book,” the SSG said.
Bello, said  the response of the state government “will be swift, total and reassuring to the public in sending a clear signal to all and sundry that Lagos State will not tolerate any form of criminality.”
While sympathizing with the families of victims in Iba and Ikorodu, the SSG urged residents of the state to go about their normal businesses without any fear or panic.
