…Vows to prosecute rumour mongers

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has come out publicly to debunk the claims that he married another wife or had twins out of wedlock.
According to the governor, the claims were just rumours being peddled by his detractors to destabilize his administration.
He equally vowed to fish out the peddlers of recent alleged raid of his Lagos residence by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Amosun spoke on Friday at the Town Hall Meeting on Year 2018 Budget organised by the state Ministry of Budget and Planning at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta.
Saturday Sun gathered that reports had gone viral in the social media claiming that the operatives of the anti-graft agency, stormed the basement of the Ikeja, Lagos residence of Amosun, and recovered huge cash in local and foreign currencies allegedly stashed in a vault.
The governor, who said that the reports, which he described as false and malicious, generated reactions from far and near, however, declared his determination to unravel those behind the fake reports. He also vowed to ensure that the perpetrators face prosecution to serve as deterrent to others.
He, therefore, noted, that the development was clearly grand and orchestrated plans to tarnish his image ahead of the 2019 elections.
Amosun, blamed a governorship aspirant in the state, whose name he did not mention, but said he remained firm and determined to reposition Ogun State.
“That is the person that wants to become governor. A normal person that wants to be governor? Instead of him to sit down and begin to marshal your plans for that state, all he does is to assemble some idiots that don’t have anything to do in one room and be sitting down to concoct things.
“There is nobody that can destabilize Amosun. No! I don’t even feel it, I don’t even care when they write rubbish.
“Let me assure you: these people are going to jail. I can assure you of that. We are going to smoke them out to serve as a deterrent. They will go to jail. It has happened before. You, our royal fathers, please leave them alone and don’t intercede for them. They made a mistake and they will go to jail because they deserve to go to jail.
“There was a time they said I have born twins outside my marriage. They would just write rubbish. You sit in one corner and write rubbish? Did you know that my mother-in-law called me and asked about this twins issue?
“I don’t know if my (elder) brother is here. If you are looking for twins, go to the likes of my brother. All the wives that I may need, my dad had had them for me. Eleven! What else do I need another wife for? Even one wife is a problem.
“Look, I went to Abuja and came back this (yesterday) morning. Where would I have time for a wife. Even, my children, it is difficult to see them, and some characters will be writing rubbish.
“They said it is one corper. Rubbish! I’ve been married for 26 years, I don’t have one girlfriend. Where do I want to get that?
“So, tell our people that want to become governor to sit down somewhere, like we do, to marshal their plans rather than engaging in smear campaign.” Amosun submitted.
