The Emir of Gwandu Emirate and Chairman Council of Chiefs in Kebbi State, Alhaji Muhammad Iliyasu-Bashar, has commended the new administration in the state under the leadership of Dr Nasir Idris for starting well with meaningful actions taken.

The royal father disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Governor at Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

The monarch noted that with a few months in office, the governor was able to distribute fertilisers free to farmers to boost farming activities across the state.

He added that, recently, the governor awarded a contract for the rehabilitation, expansion and construction of roads in the state capital.

The emir explained that he was in the Government House to rejoice with the Governor over his victory at the polls and to register his loyalty and support to the new administration in the state.

In his reaction, Governor Nasir Idris appreciated the monarch for the visit and assured that the execution of projects was just the beginning of many goodies to come.

He said the essence of governance was to ensure capital development as well as human development, saying: “In governance, there is a need for both physical and human development.”

He told the Emir that his administration was doing everything possible to tackle insecurity, especially in the southern part of the state.

According to him, “We are taking serious measures to tackle insecurity, especially in the southern part of Kebbi State. We are happy with the supply of sophisticated assets from Inspector General of Police, these vehicles will surely assist the security agencies in their sustained fight against crime and criminalities across the state,” he assured.

Idris reiterated the determination of his administration to sustain support security agencies to enable them to discharge their duties diligently.

Idris assured that very soon the state capital would wear a new look following the Infrastructure development that would be carried out.

The Governor also said a memorandum of understanding (MoU) would soon be signed on completion of the state secretariat project with a view to accommodating all workers.
