From Scholastica Hir, Makurdi

Rev. Fr. Philip Apuu, a Catholic priest in Makurdi Diocese, Benue State, has called on media professionals across Nigeria to use their platforms to communicate unity, truth, and love for the good of humanity.

Fr. Apuu made this call during a homily delivered at the Thanksgiving Mass organized by the Catholic Media Professionals Association of Nigeria (CAMPAN), Makurdi Diocese, to mark the 58th World Communications Day on May 12, 2024.

He emphasized the importance of unity and truth in communication, urging CAMPAN members and all media professionals to report in a manner that promotes greater understanding and unity among the people.

World Communications Day, established by Pope Paul VI in 1967, is an annual celebration that encourages reflection on the opportunities and challenges that modern means of social communication offer the Church in communicating the gospel message. Celebrated annually on the Sunday before Pentecost, the day highlights the achievements of the communications media and how it can best be used to promote the gospel.
