Students of Imo State origin have explained that they endorsed Gov Hope Uzodimma for a second term in office because of his infrastructural revolution and welfare programmes which they have benefited from.
They noted that the shared prosperity Government of Uzodimma has not only positively affected the students and their parents but the entire populace in Imo State, hence the endorsement.
In a statement endorsed by the President, National Association of Imo State students, Umukoro Marvis Udechukwu, during a solidarity rally for the governor, the students described as sheer miracle the funding of three universities and two other tertiary institutions by the governor.
They noted that for the first time in many years, the students are enjoying scholarships from the state government while education matters are now on the front burners.
They listed the more than 100 roads done by the administration, the revamping of Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Orlu, the youth empowerment initiative, revitalized health centres in all the 305 wards and urban renewal programme of the government as reasons why they want Uzodimma to be returned to office.
According to them, they were also encouraged to endorse the governor for a second tenure because of his dogged commitment to improve the welfare of imo students both at home and in the diaspora.
They declared, “Your Excellency, you attracted N3b TETFund project to Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, your speedy intervention and rescue to Imo State students trapped in 2021 in University of His deadly crisis are all appreciated and we say thank you.”
The students who came to Government House in their numbers also thanked the governor for his collaboration with the federal government and security agencies, resulting in checkmating the senseless killings in the state.
Recalling Uzodimma’s giant strides in the health sector and the bold initiative to dredge the Oguta Lake up to the Atlantic ocean, the students said they would use their PVC to return the governor to office in the November Governorship election in the state.
“Your Excellency, on this day, the entire Imo State students are saying carry go we are with you for second tenure. We wholeheartedly endorse you for second tenure and thank you for all you are doing for Imo State”, they declared.
Receiving the students on behalf of Uzodimma, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Nnamdi Anyaehie thanked them for acknowledging the fact that the administration has delivered on its promise to the people.
He said it was significant that the students were able to itemize the achievements of the governor, thus confirming that they were verifiable projects.
Anyaehie noted that apart from the Infrastructural revolution wrought by the governor in the last four years, he has impacted on the state’s economy through regular payment of salaries and pensions.
According to him, the governor has recently approved the promotion of all civil servants in the state, the first of its kind in 10 years , while the civil servants have been enjoying free health and transportation services.
While commending the students for the solidarity rally, Anyaehie urged them to match their words with action by ensuring that they trooped out in the their thousands with their PVC to cast their votes for Uzodimma through the All Progressive Congress (APC).
