By virtue of his rare accomplishments, the stylish Senior Advocate of Nigeria is one of Nigeria’s few corporate lawyers who can rub shoulders with any other of their peers anywhere around the globe. When a man with such an intimidating profile who has also contributed in high measure to the growth of Nigeria’s law celebrated his birthday, of course, many would have predicted the scale of the celebration: the world would celebrate with him. Indeed, that was what happened on Monday February 20 when he clocked 65. Although the stylish lawyer wasn’t given to frivolities or wanton revelry, Atake however had families, friends, close associates, staffers as well as scores of admirers celebrating and pouring encomiums on him for his impact on their lives.
Atake is a chip off the old block, being the son of a foremost jurist, late Justice Franklyn O.M Atake, a Judge of the High Court of Mid-western Nigeria (1967-1977) and a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1979-1982).
