From Jude Chinedu, Enugu

Ebonyi State Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 General Elections, Dr Ifeanyichukwuma Odii, has said that the party will play effective opposition in the state by keeping the government on its toes. He also noted that the rate of poverty, hunger and unemployment in the state was on the rise.

Addressing party faithful during a Thank you/stakeholders’ meeting at Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of the state, Odii stated that the resolve of the party leadership to remain united would help it fight injustice, corruption, sycophancy and greed in the state.  He assured that the party’s structures will always be strengthened to ensure that they were fit-for-purpose at all times, adding that more information will be released from the appropriate structures on the way forward.

Odii, however, said that he had forgiven those PDP chieftains that betrayed the party during the governorship poll in the state.

“Particularly, I am deeply concerned about the all-time rising rate of poverty, unemployment and hunger in the state; lack of access to potable water, the non-existence of viable industries in the state, declining standard of education, lack of access to healthcare service delivery, poor state’s rating in the ease of doing business, and the disturbing human development indices of the state, among other critical issues of grave concern.

“To this end, I, therefore, urge each and every one of you to remain engaged, steadfast, and involved in our collective resolve to create something new and extraordinary for our people. Become more inspired by your usual genuine love for our people, and always know that your voices and your actions matter, and together, we can make a difference,” he said.
