Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) of the Alvan Ikoku Federal University (AIFU) Professor Stella Lemchi has assured that the institution will continue to collaborate with the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) till all the students complete their studies. 

 The VC disclosed this during the matriculation ceremony of the school which also marked the end of its   matriculation with UNN as an affiliate institution. She promised that AIFU Owerri would continue to engage with the UNN in areas of research, development and cross-pollination of ideas.

 She also added: “Indeed, our new university will continue to look up to the UNN as a big brother in the years to come.”

However, Lemchi while advising the fresh intakes, encourage them to take advantage of the enabling environment of the school offers for better learning and shun cultism. 

 She said: “My dear students, as you begin your academic journey, I would like to offer a few words of advice. This institution is a place where you will encounter diverse people, ideas and perspectives. 

 “We encourage you to be open-minded, respectful and tolerant of others. We expect you to conduct yourselves with the highest standards of integrity and honesty, both in your academic work and in your interactions with others. We also encourage you to take advantage of the various opportunities the university offers; take on leadership roles and shun cultism.” 

 Reeling out some of her achievements, Lemchi said some of the school hostels have received a major uplift, “thanks to the Federal Government Revitalisation fund. We have massively renovated the male hostel and one female hostel; plans are under way to renovate the other hostels in the school.” 

She also noted that they had made adequate efforts to improve the security situation in the school with highly-trained professionals.
