Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Campaign Organisation (GUCA) has frowned at a campaign billboard that has raised some concerns in Enugu State, where the governor’s picture is juxtaposed with that of Jesus and erected at strategic positions in Enugu city.

Director of Communications of GUCA, Nana Ogbodo, in a release entitled: “Re: Campaign Billboard of Governor Ugwuanyi and ‘Jesus’ – Our Position,” said in as much as they appreciate the concerns and ingenuity of the art work, such display was uncalled for.

“Our attention has been drawn to a makebelief art work of Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, which has an image, purportedly of ‘Jesus’ on it and erected at strategic locations in Enugu city by one of the governor’s teeming supporters, ostensibly to add his weight in the massive approval for his reelection.

“We sincerely appreciate the genuine intentions of the initiator of the said work, who in all calculations  wants to demonstrate his love for the governor. While it is important to state that the maker of the said work did it without our consent, we have, however, been able to draw his attention to the uproar already generated by his innocent interventions.

“He seemingly appreciates the concern this has caused the public, vis-à-vis the varied interpretations and has even gone as far as removing same,” Ogbodo said.

While he cautioned those who may wish to support the governor’s second term bid to be wary of what they portray and project to the society, he advised that the campaign office should be consulted before doing so.
