Attempts by governorship candidates of two political parties in Enugu State, Action Democratic Party (ADP) and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) to stop the inauguration of the Governor-elect and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Mbah  on May 29 has been halted.

This followed the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s dismissal, yesterday, of the application seeking the stoppage of the inauguration and the restraining of Mbah from presenting himself for such purpose.

The candidates who participated in the March 18 governorship election and their parties in their motion, brought by their counsel, Alex Amujiogu, urged the tribunal to make an interlocutory order of injunction restraining “the governor-elect, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah from presenting himself, for the purposes of being sworn in or inaugurated as the Executive Governor of Enugu State come May 29, 2023.”

But the Tribunal, ruling on the matter, dismissed the application for lacking in merit, describing it as novel and one that needed to be tested.
