Arsenal have made an attempt to capture Everton’s Amadou Onana, according to Liverpool Echo.

Mikel Arteta, the Gunners manager, hopes to add a new central midfielder to his team this summer.

This follows Mohamed Elneny’s departure, while Thomas Partey remains connected with a transfer elsewhere.

Other Premier League teams like Chelsea and Manchester United have expressed interest in Onana.

However, Arsenal will likely be the first to make a bid this month, having contacted Everton regarding Onana’s availability.

According to the source, Everton, which is under pressure to fulfil the Premier League’s profit and sustainability standards after being penalized for two consecutive violations this season, is open to a £50 million purchase.
