FG declares Monday, Tuesday public holidays

President Bola Tinubu departed Abuja for Lagos last night, as the president is billed to observe Eid-el-Kabir, a significant Islamic holiday, in Lagos.

A statement issued by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said the President will spend the Sallah holidays in Lagos, where he will participate in prayers and reflection on his Renewed Hope Agenda for transforming Nigeria.

The President’s Renewed Hope Agenda focuses on advancing the nation’s development and prosperity, said the statement.

Meanwhile the Federal government has declared Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18  2024, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration. In a statement, by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, said the minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated all Muslim Ummah both at home and in the diaspora on the occasion.

He called on the Muslim Ummah to continue to imbibe the spirit of peace, kindness, and sacrifice as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him), and to also use the period to pray for unity, prosperity, and the stability of our country.

The Minister assured Nigerians that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians.
