Anambra State and, indeed, the entire people of South East and beyond are yet to come to terms with the demise of the iconic Ide Okona Okonkwo, a renowned educationist and customary court judge, who passed on recently at the ripe age of 93 years.

But since all mankind have an appointment with the creator, Ide Okona has gone to rest at the bosom of his maker. Knowing that he lived an exemplary life during his life time and that he left clear legacies that will continue to impact his home and people, the Okonkwo’ family ensured that Ide Okona went home in style.

The elaborate burial rites commenced with a service of songs held  in Lagos. On Thursday, April 13, a vigil Mass/night of tribute was observed at Okona country home, Umunna village Utuh, Nnewi South, Anambra State.  That was followed by lying-in-state at Okona’s residence, at 7 am on Friday, April 14.

Burial Mass took place later, St. Peter Clever Catholic Church, Utuh Nnewi South Local government.
