National President and Chairman of Council of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Mr. Anthony Chukwuemeka Nzom, has urged the Federal Government to hasten the payment of death benefits of fallen heroes to their spouses.

He decried the pathetic condition of widows and children of fallen heroes who lost their lives in various military operations across the country.

Nzom made the call, on Tuesday, during the 2nd Session of the 2017 Mandatory Continuing Professional  Development (MCPD) programme for North Central Zone, held in Jos.

According to him, “The Federal Government should strengthen the support mechanisms for spouses and families of fallen heroes through a well monitored and implemented death benefits scheme.

“In arresting the tide of terrorism in whatever disguise, good jobs and empowerment programmes should be created and made more accessible to widows and families of the fallen heroes and Nigerians to curb idleness and enable them add more value to the nation.”

Nzom advocated for the purchase of superior and sophisticated fighting equipments for soldiers waging war against Boko Haram in the North East.

He said yielding to the advise, government would equipment the military in trouble spots for greater prospective victory against terrorism in the country.

He continued, “For effective combat engagement of terrorism, government must ensure monitored provision of superior and sophisticated fighting equipment for Nigerian soldiers.

“For our soldiers currently in the theatre of war, we urged them to continue in valiant patriotism in fighting insurgency, to build a peaceful, habitable and economically  viable nation.”
