There is tension in Ogbosinne Autonomous Community, in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State over the alleged killing of the traditional ruler, HRH Igwe Stephen Nwatu.

Daliy Sun reliably gathered that the traditional ruler met his untimely death in the hands of his subjects when he allegedly wanted to prevent them from attending a scheduled meeting with Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, on Monday afternoon.

In the ensued fracas, the monarch was alleged to have ordered his driver to overrun his subjects who refused to yield to his orders to return back home. His driver was said to have knocked down one elderly man with his car and broke his legs.

Angered by the development, no fewer than 200 people allegedly descended on him and gave him the beating of his life. He was later rushed to Enugu State Teaching Hospital, Parklane, were he later died.

At the time of filing this report, over 20 houses have been set ablaze allegedly by groups loyal to the deceased monarch.
