Office of Surveyor-General of the Federation has earmarked over N2.4 billion out of its over N4.1 billion budget for various projects
While declaring open the in-house training organised by the Procurement Unit of the office in Abuja, the Surveyor General of the Federation (SGoF), Abuduganiyu Adeyemi Adebomehin stated the need for prudent spending of the fund.
He noted that the procurement process was critical in the expenditure of public funds and should not be taken for granted by government officials.
Adebomehin further explained that the process was technical and therefore ought to be unknotted for ease of understanding for better application as he commended the procurement unit for putting up the training especially the management staff and all other spending officials at OSGoF.
In a statement, the training was facilitated by the Head of the Procurement Unit at OSGoF, Mrs Ajayi Abimbola. The training focused on Quantity/Bill of Survey and Mapping.
She told them things to note in preparing Bill of Quantity (BOQ) and how to prepare the BOQ, and cautioned them on the need to ensure adequate knowledge of projects to be embarked upon, site visitation and market survey. Other items of concern which must be considered in the preparation of BOQ according to her, include the effect of inflation, contract profit margin, taxes, Bill 1/Administrative Fee and the calculation for total contract price.
Abimbola also cautioned that preparation of the BOQ should as a matter of necessity be done before the call for budget preparation and submission.
