Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), has announced the commencement of “comprehensive” sensitization campaign to foster awareness and understanding of the Nigerian Students Loan Program before its official launch.

Nasir Ayitogo, Media and Public Relations Lead, NELFUND, in a statement, on Friday, said the sensitization campaign which will begin next week, would focus on clarifying the criteria for student eligibility and ensuring that qualified individuals understand the requirements for participation.

“Students would be provided with step-by-step guidance on how to apply on the portal, including documentation requirements and submission processes; They would also be informed about the various repayment plans available, as well as opportunities for loan forgiveness or deferment; and would also be exposed to numerous benefits of the loan, including access to higher education, skill development, and enhanced career prospects.

“This will be done through a multifaceted approach, including town hall meetings, radio and television broadcasts, social media campaigns, interactive workshops, and distributing of informational materials, to reach every corner of the nation and engage with diverse stakeholders,” he explained.

NELFUND Managing Director, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, in the statement, expressed commitment to empowering Nigerian youths to pursue their educational aspirations without the burden of financial constraints.

He said that through the Students Loan programme, NELFUND envisions a future where every young Nigerian can unlock their full potential and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development.

“So, it’s important that all stakeholders, including students, parents, lecturers, community leaders, and the media, actively engage with the upcoming sensitization campaign, and to utilize the resources provided to make informed decisions about their educational journey,” he said.

He added that the Students Loan, being a flagship programme of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is a cornerstone of the administration’s commitment to democratizing access to higher education, and empowering Nigerian youths with the tools they need to succeed in the dynamic global landscape.

He, thus confirmed that the programme has been meticulously designed to provide financial support, including school fees and stipends, to eligible students nationwide in recognition of the pivotal role education plays in driving socio-economic progress.
