A Sergeant identified as Jabir Ishaq-Abdullahi of the Nigerian Police Force, attached to the Kebbi State Police Headquarters, has emerged as the overall winner in the just concluded three-day Qur’an recitation competition in the state.
He emerged as the winner in the memorization of 60 chapters of the Holy Quran and catched away the CP award and certificates. Abdullahi also got gifts from the wife of the CP.
The three-day competition which commenced on January 24 involved 18 participants in six categories of memorisation and recitations of 60, 40, 30, 20, 10,and five chapters of the Holy Qur’an.
Among other winners are Sulaiman Ahmad who emerged first in memorization of 50 chapters of the Holy Quran. Alyasau Muhammad, Mansur Musa and Dalhat Muhammad also emerged as the winners in recitations of 20 , 10 and five chapters of the Holy Quran, respectively.
While speaking with the newsmen at the end of the competition,the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police,Mr. Ahmed Mogaji Kontagora explained that the purpose of organised and sponsored the Qur’anic recitation competition was to inculcate the fear of God in the hearts of the officers.
According to him, ” We want them to move closer to God so that they will have the fear of God in their hearts and in whatever they are doing. And this event will be an annual competition insha Allahu”, he said.
Earlier, the Chairman Organising Committee, CSP Aminu Sadiq commended the CP for initiated the ideal of organising the Qur’an recitation competition and sponsored it by himself.
Sadiq ,while citing hadith of the Holy Prophet,said that,” whoever initiated good deed,he would be rewarded and those who continue the initiative would also be rewarded by Almighty Allah. We pray that Almighty Allah will continue to reward our CP for this noble initiation”.
He also advised Police Officers to endeavours to teach their children how to read and memories Holy Qur’an,streesed that,they would reward with Alijanah Firdausi and it would also serve as a shield during the day of resurrection for them.
