The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber who had a penchant for rapping his female victims in the state.

Olumide Oyewole met his Waterloo after he  allegedly robbed and raped a lady in her apartment, and the victim reported to the police. It was gathered that he threatened to kill his victim if she raised the alarm, while he tied her two hands with a rope and robbed her after raping her.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, said the case was reported to the police yesterday, at 9.50am, at the Ilasan Division. He said one lady, Cynthia, in company with some police officers from Ilasan Division, arrested the suspect in his house after committing the dastardly act.

“The lady reported to the police that at about 8pm, on Monday, she was in her room when she heard a knock on her door and she opened the door; the suspect, who masked his face, forced himself into her room with a knife.

“She said the suspect tied her two hands with a rope and raped her, after which he went ahead to ransack her room and stole her property. Items stolen included: one iphone 12 Promax; one  Samsung S9 Plus; one small Nokia phone; two bottles of perfume; two wrist watches; one necklace; one iphone charger and $10,000 (about N7 million). The scene was promptly visited by detectives, the house of the suspect was also searched where a knife was recovered,” he said.

Hundeyin said investigation was ongoing, stressing that the case would be transferred to the State Investigation and Intelligence Department  (SCIID) for discreet investigation.
