From Ndubuisi Orji, Abuja

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori; and the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Samuel Ogbuku, are among the dignitaries expected at the 13th Extraordinary General Assembly of the Forum of South-South Monarchs.

The Assembly, scheduled for later this month, will focus on the theme “Strengthening Stakeholder Collaboration for Development of the South-South Region: The Role of the Traditional Institution.”

In a statement issued in Abuja, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, HRM Pere Stanley Perediegha Luke – Kalanama VIII (JP) – Pere of Akugbene – Mein Kingdom, and 1st Vice Chairman, Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, highlighted the importance of collaboration and synergy among stakeholders in the South-South region.

The Assembly, organized in partnership with the Ashcraft Centre for Social Science Research, aims to enhance security and sustainable socio-economic development in the region.

The statement emphasizes the critical role of the traditional institution in promoting peaceful coexistence, security, and national development. It acknowledges the need for collective action to achieve the aspirations of the region’s founding fathers and people.

The Assembly is expected to generate fresh ideas and initiatives to strengthen the Forum’s mandate and facilitate a more systematic and collective approach to regional development.
