The significant infrastructural transformation witnessed in the Nation’s capital, Abuja has been ascribed to the efforts of the synergy between the Senate Committee Chairman on FCT , Senator Mohammed Bomai and the Minister of the FCT Nyesom Wike.
Bomai is also said to have replicated the same development to Yobe South Senatorial district which he represents in the 10th Assembly.
Prominent stakeholder in Yobe South, Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed made the submissions on Saturday via telephone chat with the Sunday Sun.
According to him the Yobe South Lawmaker has been at the forefront of championing in the interests of FCT at the Senate by ensuring that it gets the required legislative Appropriations in order to fast track the developmental initiatives of the FCT Minister.
Ibrahim stated that Bomai being a former seasoned administrator in the FCTA and Wike’s achievements as Governor made them an ideal team which has also bolstered the working relationship between the executive and the legislature.
He commended Bomai’s committee for diligently carrying out their oversight duties as well as the synergy between them and the Minister which has resulted in the infrastructural development and security improvement for FCT residents.
According to Ibrahim ,the Senate’s approval of the FCT’S 2024 Statutory Budget for the FCT which was increased to N 1.282 trillion from the initial N1.15 trillion proposed by the FCT Ministry is said to have been made possible through the dedication of Bomai and his committee.
He added that the approved budget will ensure realisation of the Wike’s Infrastructural strides include but not limited to the introduction of new road networks and revitalization projects, which he said has undoubtedly improved the FCT’s aesthetics and functionality.
He said ; “The two are known to be men of sterling qualities in leadership and they both have unique qualities.
“They are also working as a Team, the three arms of Government have to come together to achieve the desired objectives of every democratically elected Government.
“Bomai coming from the Legislative arm has done his role very well to defend the interest of the FCT through the budget presented to the National Assembly by his committee and that has made it possible for His Excellency Wike to achieve what he has achieved in his first year as the Minister of the FCT. What is happening in Abuja is also what is happening in his constituency .It takes two to tango and the two of them can transform FCT into a mega city of world standard.
At the home front Ibrahim described the All Progressives Congress Lawmaker as the Best Senator since the 2nd Republic. He emphasises that Bomai has become a Household name owing to his sterling performance at providing Healthcare, Education, Infrastructure, Empowerment for his constituents.
The constituency stakeholder added that Bomai’s representation has added to the fortunes and popularity of the Party in Yobe state as a result of his performance.
He said ; “Yobe has always told us that he joined Politics as a way of giving back to society what it gave to him when he was young.
“As soon as he joined politics after 35 years in public service he did not find it so difficult to transform his constituency because of his experience. Before now he has been a philanthropist who has always been touching the lives of his constituents in so many ways, especially the less privileged.
“As soon as he became the Senator through his oversight and insight function at the National Assembly he was able to link his constituency with all developmental agencies. After his first four years and one year into his second tenure put together all the work of the Senators that represented our constituency from the second Republic till date it cannot be up to what Senator Bomai has achieved in just five years in the Health sector, roads , Education, ICT, youth empowerment in fact he has become a Household name. You can’t talk about the APC without the mention of Senator Bomai. The name Bomai has become synonymous with APC because of the achievements he has recorded in our constituency.
