The Social Democratic Party (SDP) says its primaries will commence on September 28 ahead of the 2019 general election.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Alfa, the party maintained that its national convention will hold on October 6, 2018 as planned.

The party had earlier fixed September 21, 23, 24, 2018 for nomination of aspirants for House of Assembly and House of Representative positions, respectively, responding to demands by many aspirants for more time to prepare.

The new time table indicated that election activities will start with the screening of House of Assembly, House of Representative and Senate aspirants simultaneously on September 27.

Primaries for state Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate aspirants will then take place the following day, September 28.

The statement further indicated that appeal for all primary elections is fixed for September 29, while screening of governorship aspirants will commence September 30.

The governorship primaries and appeal is slated for October 1-2, respectively.

The party’s National Organizing Secretary Emeka Atuma appealed to state chairmen and aspirants to be fully prepared and to ensure a seamless screening and primary process in their states.
