Gunmen today shot three lodgers in a popular hotel in Lagos.

The gunmen believed to be robbers invaded the hotel in the Alagbado area of the State , causing serious apprehension in the axis.

Three persons were shot by the armed robbers ,who reportedly held all the workers and lodgers hostage for almost an hour.

Already,two members of the 9- man robbery gang that attacked the hotel have been arrested by the police .

The arrested robbers and others ,now at large reportedly invaded the hotel in Alagbado from Agbara, Ogun State .

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the attack as well as the arrest of two suspects.

The PPRO stated that the DPO of Alagbado police station received a distress call about the attack on the hotel around 3 a m on Monday

A resident of the area ,who pleaded anonymity said that the arrival of the policemen prevented the robbery operation from being a very bloody one .

” The DPO immediately led the patrol team to the scene to engage the armed robbers .

” Subsequently ,two of the armed robbers were arrested and the following items were recovered from them : four locally- made pistol ,One Toyota Corolla Saloon car , four expended ammunition ,two Nokia phones , one Itel phone ,one Techno phone ,one jack knife ,six ATM cards ,three wrist watches , three female handbags and a sum of #54,000 ”

Hundyin also stated that ” The robbers ,numbering about nine had shot and injured two of the hotel lodgers before the policemen arrived at the scene .Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang of armed robbers were nine in number ,who came into the area from Agbara ”

The injured victims of the robbery operation have been taken to the hospital,where they are receiving treatments.
Hundeyin said that investigations were on to arrest other fleeing members of the gang .
