…Drums support for Fubara

Rivers youths under the aegis of Sim Media Volunteers (SMV) has lauded Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the developmental changes in Rivers State, saying that soonest the world would witness season of economic prosperity in the state.

Leader of the group, Frank Kilsi, speaking in Port Harcourt, on Friday, said the youths in the state have passed their confidence on the governor, stressing that no amount of threats and distractions will change how they feel for the government.

Kilsi also commended the governor for his peaceful disposition and commitment to the security of lives and property in the state, despite the attacks he has been facing in the recent days.

The group encouraged the governor to continue on this path of development to register the state amongst the comity of frontline states in Nigeria that is most secured and peaceful for investment.

Kilsi said: “We are, indeed, gladdened by the news of our Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, rolling out drums to celebrate his one year in office beginning with the commissioning of projects on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

“In fact, the exercise elates Rivers people because, despite the barrage of attacks and antics of detractors to distract His Excellency from delivering dividends of democracy to Rivers people, he has stunned them and set unprecedented records in the areas of infrastructure, social welfare and economic development.

“Having evaluated the people-oriented leadership style of the governor, which is centred on Rivers first and the growth and development of our dear state, we the youths of Rivers State hereby pass absolute vote of confidence on His Excellency, Siminalayi Fubara.”

The group said: “It is obvious that detractors may not acknowledge this bold step that has eluded the state in the past, but with cutting edge leadership imbued in fortified strategic procedures, our state is about to witness another season of economic prosperity.”

They urged detractors in the state to “desist from every act of thuggery, banditry and violence as well as subtle connivance with the police to harass, intimidate, arrest and incarcerate followers and supporters of Governor Fubara.”

The group called on the Inspector General of Police to rein in his men and exercise restraint by stopping the unnecessary attack or arrest on any of the governor’s supporters, warning that further harassment could lead to anarchy and breakdown of law and order in the state.

“We further applaud the sterling leadership in the governance of Rivers State by Governor Fubara, particularly commending his tireless efforts in improving the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from N12 billion to an unprecedented N27 billion within a year of his administration.

“The feat has singled him out amongst his contemporaries in addition to other salient developmental successes in human capital development, quality Infrastructure delivery, provision of functional healthcare system, revamping of the educational sector, job creation, security and welfare of citizens”.

The group commended President Bola Tinubu for his painstaking efforts at actualising the Renewed Hope Agenda for the nation.

Kilsi said: “As father of our dear country, we call on Mr. President to use his exalted office to caution the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike and his co-travellers who have declared total war on Rivers State, as seen by their daily actions against Rivers people and victimization of innocent citizens.

“We equally call on the Inspector General of Police to investigate these allegations with despatch and ensure that the police conducts its duties professionally and with utmost neutrality. While we acknowledge that the police play crucial role in maintaining law and order, it is pertinent to note that they demonstrate this by instilling fairness and in strict adherence to the provisions of the constitution.”
