The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, has ordered the maximum deployment of the personnel, intelligence, and operational resources of the command for the effective policing of the Liberation Stadium in Elekahia, Port Harcourt.

The newly posted Police commissioner has also ordered adequate security in other parts of the state in line with the swearing-in ceremony of the Rivers State Governor-elect, Siminialaye Fubara and his Deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, on May 29, 2023.

In his directives, the CP ordered all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the command to place adequate security in their areas of responsibility according to the operation order designed by the command.

He warned all police officers to be very professional and civil in carrying out their duties.

The police boss also informed members of the public that there would be a diversion around entry and exit routes within the Liberation Stadium in Elekahia, Port Harcourt.

He said the decision was part of efforts to ensure the free flow of traffic and urged members of the public to be law-abiding and cooperate with security operatives for a successful inauguration.

“Members of the public are, therefore, urged to be law-abiding and cooperate with officers on duty for a peaceful inaugural process.”

Emeka, who just assumed office as Rivers Police boss, assured the people of the State of his commitment to ensuring their safety and security.
