Activities for the celebration include; rendition of the ‘Nine Lessons of Christmas’ to be performed by nine prominent clerics from different churches that have been invited to participate in the Fiesta.
Director of programme in the Aare’s office, Dr. Adebiyi Philips said the Christmas carol which aimed at spreading joy and celebrating the season with people from across the world, will take place at All Seasons Plaza, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos. “The carol is Aare Onakakanfo’s way of appreciating God, as his office is an institution with vision that has always been translated to reality.”The Carol is to tell the world that we are liberal on the issue of religion. We are also using the event to propagate the Christian beliefs and uphold the spirit of the season by telling the world that birth of christ is not an ordinary story, or theological tale, but an interesting episode of what make Christianity what it is today.”
Philips assured that significant efforts has been made to ensure that the event makes a big impact in the Christian world. “Through the carol, we can identify the message of Christmas. Moreover, aside organising the Carol, we believe it is one of our Christian social responsibilities to find a way of reaching out the people, irrespective of their religious affiliations”.
He expressed gratitude to the convener, Aare Adams, for the lofty initiative, declaring that the Carol will, henceforth, become an annual event.
