The lawmaker, who represents Nkanu
East/West Federal Constituency of Enugu State, also described the former Anambra governor “as an insightful statesman of immense political influence with abiding contacts and network across the country.”

According to him, Jim, as Nwobodo is fondly called by his political and business associates “remains a groundbreaker in Nigerian politics and
an apostle of politics without bitterness just like his late mentor the Owelle of Onitsha and the former President of Nigeria, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe”.

Nnaji recalled that Nwobodo along with other eminent Nigerians founded the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in 1998 and he was elected to represent Enugu East Senatorial District in the third Republic between 1999 and 2003.

“He is a leader with an exceptional popularity and a statesman who believes so much in one Nigeria. He inspired a lot of us into politics quite early” he stated.
