Former governor of Abia State and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Orji Kalu has, urged Nigerians in the Diaspora to be good ambassadors of Nigeria.

The former governor, while stressing that Nigerians are hard working, enterprising and innovative, called on the Federal Government to continually initiate programmes aimed at educating Nigerians abroad, on the potentials and challenges of their host countries.
Kalu made the remarks on Saturday, during a parley with a cross-section of Nigerians in Guangzhou Province, China.

While acknowledging the efforts of the Nigerian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Alhaji Baba Ahmed Jidda, in the sustenance of robust bilateral relations between Nigerian and the People’s Republic of China, Kalu urged the Nigerian community in China not to lose focus in their pursuits, both at home and in China.
He said: “China and Nigeria have come a long way in building a strong relationship, especially in the area of trade. It is important for both countries to constantly reciprocate gestures that will further strengthen the established relationship. It is imperative for the Nigerian government, through its embassies, high commissions and foreign missions across the globe, to ensure that bilateral and multi- lateral relationships are not one sided.”

While advising Nigerians abroad to demonstrate good moral values in their daily endeavours, Kalu urged those engaged in illicit activities to desist for the sake of redeeming Nigeria’s image. He equally used the occasion to acknowledge the achievements of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, with emphasis on the projects being executed in the South East, including the second Niger Bridge and Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

Speaking on behalf of others, President of Nigerians in Diaspoara Organisation (NIDO), Guangzhou Province, China, Mr. Festus Mbisiogu and Mr. Ojukwu Emma expressed appreciation to the former governor for his patriotic and selfless commitment to the Nigeria project.
