Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, the reinstated Emir of Kano, has arrived at the Kano Government House to officially receive his appointment letter and resume his duties as the state’s sole first-class Emir.

Sanusi returned to Kano late Thursday, greeted by a low-key homecoming reception on the advice of security officials. Preparations are now complete for the much-anticipated event that will mark his first public appearance since his reinstatement.

The Emir is scheduled to attend a mini-durbar ceremony at the Africa House in Kano Government House at 10 a.m. Following this, he will proceed to the Nassarawa Emir’s palace.

This event comes after Governor Abba Yusuf signed the amended Kano State Emirates Council bill into law, dissolving the former Emirate Council and reinstating Sanusi. The new law reverses actions taken by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who had deposed Sanusi in 2020 and divided the Kano Emirate into five separate entities.

Sanusi’s reinstatement has been met with significant public interest, marking a pivotal moment in the state’s traditional leadership structure.
