President Muhammadu Buhari is back in Nigeria, after attending the 30th session of the Africa Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Buhari arrived the country at 2:00pm and went straight to his residence to rest.

At the summit in Ethiopia, he unveiled the AU’s anti-graft campaign on Sunday, January 28.

The president was received at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by the FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello, Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika (who was in his delegation to Addis-Ababa), Director General of National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Rufai, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (also in the president’s delegation) and his Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari.

Buhari left Abuja for the summit in Ethiopia on Friday, January 26.

He joined 14 other members of the Peace and Security Council (PSC), a standing organ of the AU for the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts as they discussed matter relating to corruption, the persistence of violent conflicts and crisis situations in some parts of the continent, an upsurge of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and refugees, climate change and its consequences, as well as the issue of the derailment of national development programmes.

Other issues discussed included the security situation in Somalia, South Sudan, Libya, Guinea Bissau, the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Also, at the summit, Buhari was selected as the AU’s Anti-Corruption Year Champion.
